Caves & Towers

Well, not much interesting dream-wise lately except for this little bit from last night. Picture this...I'm a ghost, and something is chasing me through a dark, misty forest. I couldn't see who or what it was that wanted to hurt me. All I knew was that I had to get to a lake that was in the middle of the woods. I knew the lake would not only keep me safe, but it would also heal me if I needed it. Finally, after what felt like an hour of running, I finally saw the lake, but only because it was glowing. I dove into it and even though it was dark outside, the glow showed me that the water was incredibly clear. I could see a cave opening toward the bottom, and that's where it appeared the glow was coming from. I swam into the cave and found myself in a huge air pocket. I walked to the back and noticed that there were jewels embedded into the wall, and they made the whole place just sparkle! I felt warm and safe in that cave and I knew that whatever was outside chasing me, couldn't get me there.

Ok...so that's the end of that dream...I then flipped into another one. This time I was on a winged horse and we were flying through a really stormy sky. There was lightning everywhere and it looked like the clouds were literally boiling. I was holding a huge silver sword, but for some reason (and lucky for me), the lightning left us alone. The horse and I flew toward a huge castle tower...it was so tall that I couldn't even see where it started. On top of the tower was a red beacon. It was there to draw evil forces and I knew that my job was to destroy it. So, we circled the beacon, I lifted my sword up and I smashed it into a million tiny pieces!

The Place Where God Lives

This is one of those dreams I didn't want to wake up from. It was so beautiful and fantastic and warm and a million other positive adjectives that I can't even think of right now (perhaps I should invest in a thesaurus?). It started off with what felt like an out-of-body experience. I was floating above my body and I looked down at myself, but I wasn't afraid. I was thinking "Hey, I really am going someplace else when I die!"

I floated up through the roof, up through the clouds and into space. That was the only time I got a little scared, because I was beyond the earth's gravitational pull. I thought maybe I would keep floating all the way to the end of the universe.

As I was looking down on earth I really got the idea of how tiny it was in comparison to the infinite blackness of space. I was thinking "My God, I'm nothing but a speck of dust..." The second I said that, I heard a voice right next to me say "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Needless to say, I was somewhat startled that there was someone floating up there with me!

When I turned to see who it was, I saw the most beautiful being imaginable. I can't even say that he
was the stereotypical version of angels that people have drawn, sculpted or painted throughout the centuries. The only way I can describe him is to say that he was absolutely ethereal. And he radiated such warmth and love that it was nearly overwhelming. I just sort of stared at him for the longest, not really knowing what to say. He took my hand and pulled me along with him. I never saw his lips move but I heard inside my head, "My name is Michael and I am your guide."

The things he showed me were incredible. I saw stars being born and stars dying. I saw galaxies being formed from cosmic dust. I saw planets and the suns they orbited.

I had no sense of time passing in any way, but it had to have been because the things I saw just couldn't have happened in a split second. After he had shown me a multitude of wonders, Michael said, "There is one other thing you must see."

He showed me something that I will never really be able to truly describe, but I'll do my best. It was a ball of the purest white light, brighter than the sun...brighter than a thousand suns could ever be. And all around it were millions of tiny sparks swirling toward it, sort of like they were orbiting closer and closer until they were just absorbed by it. I looked at Michael because I had no idea what I was seeing. He said "This is where God lives, and you are watching Him gather up His people." That bright light was where God was??! I knew I had to go there and be with Him so I started to go forward, but Michael stopped me. "It is not time. You will be with Him soon enough."

The next thing I knew I was back inside my body, utterly crushed. And I felt so heavy, you know? I was light and free when I was with Michael and now I was weighed down by my imperfect human body. It took me the whole day to get rid of that feeling and just be happy that I know exactly where I'm going when I die.

Brawl At Center Court

Ok...this dream is just too weird for words. Almost. And...I'm not sure if I can even find any decent pics to accompany it. That's how freakin' weird it is.
Ok... so picture this. It's the Olympics, and the US women's basketball team is in the gold medal finals along with China. It's a close game and these women are being very physical, pushing each other around under the basket and throwing elbows when they can get away with it. Suddenly, one of the Chinese players tries to block one of the American women driving toward the basket, but she doesn't get set in time. It wasn't even close! It was a damn hard collision, and they both end up on the floor. The game is within 4 points with 3 minutes left and tensions are running high. Unfortunately, the two centers get into a shoving match and that was all she wrote! Both teams clear the bench and it's a CHICK FIGHT!!!

What we don't see during most of the game play is that one of the assistant coaches for the US women's team is a ditzy blonde. Granted, she looks good in power suits and can run a play on the court like nobody's business. The problem is that she wasn't born with a lick of common sense whatsoever.

During the melee, the blonde coach runs onto the court in her impossibly high heels, and pulls one the Chinese players off of her star forward. She grabs the Chinese woman by the shoulders and... head butts her with all of her blonde might! Needless to say, she knocks both herself and the unsuspecting Chinese player unconscious.

The head coach sees what his assistant coach has done and runs to center court, where she's pretty much laid out. He pats her on the cheeks and says "Hey, are you ok? Holy shit, what'd you do that for?"

At that point, the blonde assistant coach comes to. She sits up with the help of the head coach and says, "It always works in the movies...

Yes people, I really did dream that. And the coolest thing was that I literally woke up laughing! It was a great start to my work day, lemme tell ya!

Bugs & Teeth

For whatever reason, I haven't been having a lot of dreams lately (or ones that I can remember). Could be that I went off my lortabs! HA! Anyhow, my latest dream was a combination of grossness. First it started with little green bugs and little green worms and they were all over me!!!! In my hair, on my clothes, all over my skin!! I kept knocking the little bastards off, but more kept showing up. I was completely freaking out, because in real life...I hate bugs. I even hate butterflies which is insane, I know. But if you look closely enough at a butterfly...if you look past its wings to what they're attached to, there's a BUG! Anyway, after the bug and worm thing I had one of my patented "tooth dreams" (FYI, most dream analysts say that these dreams are one of the most common...). The difference in this particular dream was that my teeth were coming out whole and entirely rotten (usually they crumble...)

I know, I know. "Tooth & bug dreams. Big whoop." *sigh*

Nevermore: The Legend of Finn

This is what I call one of my "movie dreams". It was an all-nighter, lemme tell ya! It started with me in an old library, picking up a book called...well..."Nevermore: The Legend of Finn". As I opened the book I saw that it was actually an epic children's poem with moving illustrations! It was totally cool! Now, I can't remember the entire poem, but I do remember bits of it, and exactly what the story was about. So...it starts off like this...

"I have dreamed and dreamed I have of a faroff distant shore, Of a mystical, magical, wonderous land...a land called Nevermore.

It is a place where mice can dance and rabbits speak in rhyme
Where trees can laugh, deer can sing, and flowers sway in time

According to the poem, Man lived harmoniously with all of the living things on Nevermore, along with Dragonkind. Dragons were the teachers of Man and the guardians of Nevermore. Their sole function was to guide Man in his spiritual endeavors and to keep Nevermore hidden from the world.

Now, there were two clans who lived on Nevermore; Clan Baird and Clan Rorke. The relationship between the two was always good, and they traded well together. But when the king of Clan Rorke was accidentally killed by a stray arrow while on a hunting expedition, the rest of his hunting party couldn't bear to go back to their people and say that they were responsible. So, they brought the King's body home and put the blame on Clan Baird. The King was so beloved by his people that they rose up in arms against Clain Baird. Dragonkind tried to reason with both sides, but it was to no avail.

Eventually, one by one, the Guardians of Nevermore left, and eventually Dragonkind faded from Man's memory.

The war between the clans lasted for decades. Not only did they forget that dragons existed, but they couldn't even remember what they were fighting for.

Several centuries after Dragonkind had left Nevermore, a dragon named Finn was born and as he grew, he developed quite a reputation for curiosity. One day, the young dragon approached the elders and asked about Man. The elders, knowing that Finn would discover the truth one way or the other, told him everything. The young dragon was heartbroken and he vowed that he would go back to Nevermore and convince Man to lay down his arms and live peacefully together, the way they had done in centuries past. The elder dragons forbade Finn to do so, for they had left Nevermore behind long ago and decreed that Dragonkind was shed of Man forever. Finn refused to give up on Man, and set off for Nevermore.

When he arrived, he saw that Man was still at war. Realizing that they hadn't seen his kind for half a millenia, he was kind and gentle in his approach. He went to each clan and appealed to them. "Peace!" But they would not listen. Finn understood then that the only way to achieve peace would be through a great sacrifice. He settled by the river gorge and he sung the Dragonsong. He called for Dragonkind to witness and he called for Man to fulfill.

"He wept for a day and ten." The kings of each clan were drawn to the river. They felt the Dragonsong thrumming in their hearts. Finn took his tears and gave one to each king.

"They thought that then they understood all that they had lost. But Finn said 'No, you do not see what your folly truly cost.'"

Finn explained to the kings that until they spilled innocent blood with one hand and one sword they would never truly comprehend their past or their future. Finn cast down a single sword and turned away. "It must be together. One sword, one hand."

The two kings reached for the sword as one. "It has begun."

Finn flew to the top of a rocky crag, and again sung the Dragonsong in hopes that his kin would be there to witness that Man could be redeemed.

The sun was rising when the kings approached the young dragon. It was fitting, because it was the dawn of a new era. Both men stood before Finn, fearful at what they were about to do.

"You must, or all is lost!"

It was with great sorrow that they slew the innocent. Together, with one sword and one hand, the kings of Nevermore pierced Finn's heart. The young dragon had sung his last and as his soul rose to the Heavens, he saw all of Dragonkind there with him. Dragonkind had been shamed by Finn's sacrifice. They understood that they should not have abandonded Man. Even so, their hearts were too heavy and their loss was too great. They banished Man from Nevermore for all of eternity.

Even today, the old sailors say that when the moon is low and the mists ride the ocean, they can see the Isle of Nevermore in the shadows.

Viking Days

We were tasked to build a boat. The purpose was to go back in time, and record the Viking way of life. It took months before the boat was finished. We had to be sure to build it without any modern technology because to do so would jeopardize the mission. We made a lot of mistakes along the way, but each time we were able to correct those mistakes without much rebuilding. Finally, about a year after we began, the "Valiant" was finished. We set off at dawn. The air was crisp and cold, and the sun was bright on the water. It was beautiful and we were all confident that we would be able to sail into the past with no repercussions. A few days passed and we were all wondering if we'd been able to go backward in time.

We saw plenty of whales, sharks, and other ocean life, but never saw any sign of human life. We were huddled on the upper deck, wondering if we needed to head back when we saw, in the distance, several plumes ofsmoke. We jumped up and down and high-fived each other, because we were certain that we had made it! It took another day and a half before we were able to clearly see a fairly large settlement. The dwellings looked to have been built from stone quarried from the surrounding cliffs.

We immediately began taking still pictures and videos. Many of us had microcassettes and were voicing what we were seeing with our own eyes, along with how we felt about that. About a half mile before we reached the docks, we had changed our clothing and hidden away anything that smacked of where we came from.

The sights, sounds, and smells...they were amazing and it almost felt like I was awake. I could smell wood burning in fireplaces and meat cooking. Our boat finally docked and a long plank was pushed up to us. We carefully made our way down the wood because it was still wet from whatever precipitation had passed over the village earlier.Once we were on solid land, we were greeted by what looked to be the village elder. He knew there was something off about us because he challenged us. In order to prove ourselves worthy, we had to make our way to an abandoned Keep in the mountains. Apparently there was an evil wraith that we had to do away with.

Unfortunately for me, only two of us had to go, and...I was one of the two! I wasn't very happy about that because I could barely lift the sword, let alone kill a wraith with it! My friend and I realized, though, that we had to get this done or our research would be completely ruined. We hefted our swords over our shoulders and headed up the mountain.

Once we got to the Keep, I was grousing to my friend that I didn't think the elder wanted to challenge us so much as use that as an excuse to
get rid of the damn wraith. He agreed with me, but said we were pretty much stuck with the task if we were going to be able to continue our research. I really hate dark, dank places and this Keep was the darkest and dankest! We opened the door and stepped inside and as soon as we did, my dream flipped and now it was more like a PC role-playing game with buttons to push and items to find. Luckily for us, we were able to find some armor right away.

The rest of my dream was pretty muzzy. I remember having to answer a lot of yes/no questions and depending on how I answered them, I was either turned evil or good.

So, there it is in a nutshell. My first posted crazy dream! YAY ME!
